The win came as part of Bellator 278's main event, and it ended just 4:47 into Round Four. This was Carmouche's first win over Velasquez in professional MMA.

The daughter of an Air Force pilot, Liz Carmouche grew up on a military base in Okinawa, Japan. Her dad served in the Air Force there, and her mom remarried. She graduated from a Christian school in San Diego. She is now studying at San Diego City College in order to become a kinesiologist.
