USA has a long tradition of supporting female sports teams. Biney, Schmitt up to Edwards and Vollmer are all examples of women athletes who are making waves within the sports world. But, even with all the success stories of women's sports teams, there are still some outstanding female athletes. Let's take a look at some of these more prominent ones. Biney

Maame biney is an American speed skater in short track who won the bronze medal for the Women's Speed Track event at 2018 Winter Olympics. She was in PyeongChang for the 2018 Winter Olympics' short track competition. Biney's remarkable performance has generated worldwide interest. Here are some facts. She is a champion, determined to win the top competitions in the world.

Schmitt

Allison Schmitt, one the most decorated female athletes in America, spoke out about her struggle with depression. After the 2012 Olympic Games she was removed from the national team and world championships. She struggled with depression. She fell into deep depression. She failed to qualify for the 2016 Olympic trials. It was her determination to get back in the pool that paid off and she became again the US Olympic swimming champion.

Vollmer

Dana Whitney Vollmer is an Olympic gold medalist five times and a former world record holder at the swimming competition. In the 2004 Summer Olympics, she set a new world record. She was also awarded the Olympic bronze medal in the event and the bronze at the 2008 Summer Olympics. A former college swimmer, she has been training for years to become a world-class competitor. Here are five reasons why Vollmer is so great:


Joyner-Kersee

Jacqueline Joyner-Kersee, USA, is a retired track and field athlete who won four Olympic medals, including three gold, two silver, and one bronze. She is an all-time great in long jump and heptathlon. Her many achievements include the 1984 Olympic long-jump title. Joyner Kersee also won the 1996 long jump silver medal.

Evans

Aja L. Evan, bobsledder and Olympic medalist for Team USA is a brakeman. Growing up in Chicago, she was an All-American shotputter and a track-and-field City Champion. Evans won a shot-put title at the University of Illinois and was an All American in track and field. After joining the 2012 bobsled team, Evans was able to perform at the Olympics.

Voisin

Maggie Voisin from the United States is a female Olympic athlete. After breaking her leg, she was unable to compete at the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics. She returned to competing at the 2018 Winter Olympics, but missed the podium after suffering a torn left ACL. Voisin was unable to compete for eight years due to the injury, but Voisin is back.

Retton

Retton joined the President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports in 2004. This was an American government-created organization that encourages Americans of all ages and increases physical activity. This council is part of United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of Public Health and Science. Retton helped to drop the bill even though the bill didn't become law.
