Leona Maguire leads the 2022 LPGA Drive On Championship
Leona Maguire finished 18-under at Fort Myers' LPGA Drive On Championship. Her final-round score was 67. This made her the first Irish woman to win the LPGA Tour. Maguire's 198 total was also a career best, equaling her previous record of 15 over par in the 2021 Pelican Women's Championship.
Maguire is acutely aware of the significance of her victory in women's tournament golf in her country. After Maguire's win in the Drive On Championship on February 20,22, the president of Ireland congratulated and wished her well.

Marina Alex comes in second
Marina Alex has had an amazing season thus far. But that's not all. Alex had been out of work for almost seven months because of a back injury. Alex's schedule changed when the COVID-19 pandemic hit the United States. To keep her body in good shape, she had to increase her workouts. After competition resumed in September she experienced back problems. She played through it, and was determined to get healthy in time for the end-of-year tournaments.
Alex has made every cut except one in recent years. She tied for fourth at the LPGA Drive On Championship in February, and she was also on form during the West Coast Swing in California. She tied for 35th at the Chevron Championship at Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage and then tied for 10th at the DIO Implant L.A. Open at Wilshire Country Club in Los Angeles.
