It was a grueling final day for the women, but Danielle Kang held on to win the marathon LPGA Classic. As temperatures dropped, the conditions were difficult and scores rose. Bogeys were easy to find. Lopez and Korda combined made four bogeys. Kang, however, showed off a plethora of short-game shots, making birdies on holes nine and eleven.
The marathon LPGA Classic was a grueling event, and Kang's win came when Lydia Ko double bogeyed the final hole. Ko was five holes behind with six to go. Danielle Kang rallied with a birdie on the 13th and 14th holes to win by one stroke. Kang had to score par on the final two holes in order for Kang to claim the victory.

Danielle Kang (a six-time LPGA champion) has revealed that she has a tumor in her spine. This news was made public in April after Kang returned from Hawaii where doctors discovered the tumor. Despite the news, she is committed to playing at the US Women's Open this weekend. In the meantime, she is still waiting on test results to determine whether or not it's malignant.
Kang has suffered back pain from the cancerous growth in her spine for months. She's currently under extensive tests, and is waiting to hear if the tumor is malignant or benign. She has already pulled out of two tournaments this season, the Lotte Championship as well as the Palos Verde Championship. However, her tournament plans are still unclear. She's scheduled to have further tests next week.

Although Danielle Kang is not yet at the top of the world golf rankings, she has made significant strides in her career. The 24-year old lives in Las Vegas, with Maverick McNealy as her boyfriend and Butch Harmon as her coach. This is a good sign for the Major Championship first-time entrant.
She is an excellent 3-wood and other long iron player, which is why her high ranking. After a couple of years of struggling with driver yips, she is now the world's No. 5. Butch Harmon, Kang's coach, is responsible for her rise up the rankings. Kang hopes to make it to the Olympics this year with Harmon's help.

Her hybrids used the Titleist 816 HL2 and 716 BB with Mitsubishi Chemical Dimanablue 70 HYS shafts. Kang also used Titleist Vokey Design SM7 wedges.
