Leona Maguire leads the 2022 LPGA Drive On Championship
Leona Maguire finished on 18-under at Fort Myers’ LPGA Drive On Championship. With a final-round 67, she became the first Irish woman in the LPGA Tour's top 100. Maguire's 198 total was also a career best, equaling her previous record of 15 over par in the 2021 Pelican Women's Championship.
Maguire is aware of the historic impact of her victory on women's golf, her home country and the tour, and she is still processing the fame that comes with it. Even the president of Ireland congratulated her after her February 2022 Drive On Championship win.

Marina Alex comes in second
Marina Alex's season has been great, but it isn't the only reason why she's succeeded. Alex was sidelined for seven consecutive months due to a serious back injury. When the COVID-19 pandemic struck the United States, Alex's schedule was altered. To keep her body fit, she had to do more exercise. When competition resumed in September, she suffered back problems. She persevered through the ordeal and was determined to be healthy for the end of year tournaments.
In the recent past, Alex has made all but one cut. She finished fourth at the LPGA Drive On Championship, February. Alex was also on form for the West Coast Swing, California. She was 35th at Mission Hills Country Club, Rancho Mirage's Chevron Championship. She then finished 10th at Wilshire Country Club's DIO Implant L.A. Open.
