Camryn, Allyson Felix’s daughter, was seven weeks early when she was born on Nov. 28, 2018. She weighed just over three pounds and eight ounces and spent about a month in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). She is doing well. Her husband and she have been working together to promote maternal health and better maternity protections in athlete agreements ever since.
She struggles with maternity leaves
Allyson Felix, Olympic gymnast, recently spoke out about her struggles with maternity leave during an interview with FOS. This interview was conducted at the Title IX anniversary summit. In partnership with Athleta, the nonprofit &Mother and sponsor Athleta, Allyson Felix is leading an effort to ensure child care is available at U.S. Championships. The new program will provide parents with the option of providing child care while the athletes compete.
