2022 WNBA season marks the 26th season for the Women's National Basketball Association. It will include the Chicago Sky as the defending champions. The schedule will have 36 regular-season games per team - the highest number of games in a single WNBA WNBA season.
Chicago Sky wins WNBA season
Parker, who is from Naperville, Ill., returned home to the Chicago Sky after 13 seasons with the Los Angeles Sparks and was a key part of the Sky's title run. She was called the missing piece of the team, and this label she proved to be during the season's final match. Griner, meanwhile was the core of Phoenix’s offense from the beginning, scoring 28 points. 18 of these were in the first period. Skylar and her teammate Skylar diggins-Smith led the team to a 9th-quarter run.
Sylvia Fowles is WNBA’s all-time top scorer
Fowles is happy, despite her disappointing performance in the WNBA. She would rather be winning but she knows that life is far more important than basketball. Because of this, she is more confident now than ever about her ability to make an impact and achieve her goals.

Seattle Storm: A perennial contender
The defending WNBA champions, Seattle Storm, are currently in rebuilding mode. In 2010, the champions were won on the shoulders a formidable Australian stretch-5 Lauren Jackson and an ageless Sue Bird. The standings fell due to Jackson's absence. That didn't stop the Storm from drafting new players in the 2015 and 2016 drafts.
Chicago Mercury a deep playoff contender
The Mercury have made a number of trades in the off-season that should help them improve upon last season's performance. The team obtained Bridget Pettis', Jillian Alleyne's, Kim Smith's and the thirteenth pick in the 2012 draft. It also acquired two players from the WNBA Draft and a first pick in the Minnesota Lynx 2013 draft. The team also traded first-round picks to Los Angeles Sparks and the Minnesota Lynx for Temeka Johnson, A'Quonesia Benjamin, and Noelle Quinn. In return, Mercury received a second-round draft pick in 2013 and a third-round draft pick from New York Liberty.
Washington Mystics' Elena Delle Donne
Washington Mystic Elena Delle Donne (Washington Mystic): The two time WNBA MVP will be in her fourth season. Her average point per game has been over 20. In the regular season she was ranked third with a 50.8 percent field goal percentage. She was also named to the All-Star roster for the sixth season. She was the leader of Washington Mystics to their first WNBA Championship. She also set a number WNBA and franchise records.
Chelsea Gray, Chicago Mercury
Despite being passed over for her fifth straight All-Star nod, Gray's teammates have seen a transformation in the Chicago Mercury's star point guard. Gray has been a consistent player and leader of her team to a record of 4-0.

Seattle Storm's Sue Bird
Sue Bird announced that she will continue to play in the WNBA after 2021's season. She will be eligible for bonuses and endorsements, as well as a veteran minimum salary at $72,141. Bird also told her current teammates about her decision during a team dinner on Wednesday. Bird spoke to friends and former teammates. She was drafted by the Storm in 2002 and later spoke with General Manager Karen Bryant, who was her first boss.
