USA has long supported female sports teams. Biney, Schmitt or Edwards are just a few examples of female athletes who have made a name for themselves in the world of sports. Yet, there are some female sportsmen that merit special recognition, despite all the victories of women's team sports. Let's look at some more noteworthy ones. Biney

Maame Bijny, an American short track speedskater, won bronze in the Women’s Short Track event of the 2018 Winter Olympics. She was in PyeongChang for the 2018 Winter Olympics' short track competition. Biney's remarkable performance has generated worldwide interest. Here are some facts you need to know about her. She is a true champion who is determined to win the world's best competition.

Schmitt

Allison Schmitt is one of the most decorated American female athletes. After the 2012 Olympic Games, she was left off the national team and the world championships and struggled with depression. She fell into deep depression. She had a difficult time competing at the 2016 Olympic trials. She returned to swimming in the US and was again crowned a champion.

Vollmer

Dana Whitney Vollmer, a five-time Olympic gold medalist, is also a former world record holder for swimming. In the event she won at 2004 Summer Olympics, she set the world record. She won the Olympic bronze and bronze medals at the 2008 Summer Olympics. She was a former college swimmer who has been training hard to become a world-class swimmer. These are five reasons Vollmer is so remarkable:


Joyner-Kersee

Jacqueline Joyner-Kersee, USA, is a retired track and field athlete who won four Olympic medals, including three gold, two silver, and one bronze. She is one of the all-time greats in the long jump and the heptathlon. She won the 1984 Olympic long jump title. Joyner-Kersee also won silver in the long leap in 1996.

Evans

Aja L. Evans, a bobsledder, is an Olympic medalist for Team USA. She is also a brakeman on bobsled. She was raised in Chicago where she was an All-American shotputter and a track-and-field City Champion. Evans, a University of Illinois student, won a shotput title and was an All American in track. She made her Olympic debut in 2012, when she joined the bobsled squad.

Voisin

Maggie Voisin is a female athlete from the United States who is on the U.S. Olympic team this year. After suffering a fractured leg, she missed 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics. After breaking her leg, Voisin returned to competition at the 2018 Winter Olympics. However, she missed the podium because of a torn left ACL. Voisin, despite being sidelined eight years ago by her injury, is now ready to compete.

Retton

Retton served as a member in 2004 of the President’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports. The organization was established by the U.S. to promote physical activity and encourage Americans all ages to engage in sport. This council is part of United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of Public Health and Science. Retton helped to drop the bill even though the bill didn't become law.
