Now that the WNBA basketball season is underway, with more than a quarter of the games already off the calendar, it's time to examine the WNBA stats. Although standings do not measure individual player performance they can be used to make predictions based upon past history. You never know what you might find surprising about some of the numbers. Below are some key statistics about the WNBA.
Leslie played in WNBA

Sabrina Ionescu was the first WNBA player with a 30-point triple-double
Ionescu was the first player in WNBA history with 30 points and a triple-double last season. She was also the first WNBA player ever to record three consecutive double-doubles. In the offseason, she rehabilitated her speed and strength in preparation for the 2022 season. After undergoing an ankle injection, she felt ready to start training camp. She was no longer a rookie, and she had yet to get to know her teammates or her new home.
Kelsey Plum leads Liberty in assists per game
After a great season last season Kelsey Plum will lead the Liberty in assists per games this year. The 5-foot-8, 5-foot-8 center has averaged 5.4 assists per week to lead the team. Her impressive stats are not surprising as she leads with 19.6 points per games. Alyssa, Thomas and she are tied for the league lead with assists. Plum earned MVP honors in her first appearance in WNBA All-Star. She set a new record by hitting 12 triples.
Parker's injury history
DeVante was drafted by the Miami Dolphins as wide receiver with the 14th pick. After injuring the foot in a practice, Parker was forced to miss the first half. Parker required surgery to fix his foot and missed seven matches. He was a chronically injured player, which became a major problem at the beginning of his NFL career. Parker tore the scar tissue on his left foot from surgery, and missed three preseason games.
Standings of WNBA
It is never too early for WNBA fans to start looking at the standings. Six teams will participate in the playoffs which start on Aug. 17th. The Chicago Sky Aces (and the Las Vegas Aces) have already secured their first two seeds. This leaves Dream, Mystics, Sun and Mystics in contention for the fourth and fifth seeds. In addition, a number of other teams are in the mix, including the New York Liberty, Dallas Wings, and Los Angeles Sparks.
Ionescu's triple-double
The triple-double of Ionescu was a historic feat for the WNBA. In the 116-98 win over the Las Vegas Aces, Ionescu scored 31 points and grabbed 13 rebounds. She also had 10 assists. Although her triple double is impressive by itself, it's even more impressive that she didn’t pass the ball. Ionescu is the league's first player to achieve a triple-double.
